Managing your work

Lona organizes strategy creation, backtests, data sources, and optimization runs in the application sidebar.

The sidebar links to:

  • New Chat (/chat) for describing a strategy and working with Lona.
  • Strategies (/strategies) for saved strategy versions.
  • Reports (/reports) for backtest results.
  • Optimization (/optimizations) for parameter sweeps.
  • Data (/data) for global and uploaded OHLCV data.
  • My Indicators (/indicators) for saved indicators when your plan includes access.
  • Billing and Settings for account management.

On desktop, the sidebar can be collapsed to make more room for chat and the backtest panel. When expanded, it also shows recent chats.

Chats

Start a conversation from New Chat. A chat can contain the strategy discussion, identified rules, generated code, and links to backtest or optimization runs. Open a recent chat from the expanded sidebar to continue that conversation.

The chat input also includes the model selector. See AI models for the available choices.

Strategies

Open Strategies to see saved strategies. A strategy card can show its name, summary, creation date, and report count. From the card or detail page you can open the strategy, run a backtest, and delete it.

The strategy detail page includes:

  • the current source code and explanation;
  • language, version, creation, and update information;
  • version history;
  • reports generated from the strategy; and
  • export history when an export exists.

Strategy versions are immutable

Updating a strategy creates another document in the same version group. Existing versions are not overwritten. A version update must have a higher version number than the latest version; if no version is supplied, Lona assigns the next version.

Deleting a strategy version group removes all versions in that group and their associated reports. Treat a strategy version as the exact code and configuration that produced its reports.

Running a strategy

Select Run Strategy from the strategy detail page, or use Run Backtest / New Backtest in the chat canvas. The run configuration lets you choose data, bar frequency, date range, and simulation parameters before submitting the backtest. The selected symbols must share the requested frequency and overlapping date range.

See Data management and Canvas and interface for the configuration screens.

Reports

Open Reports to review backtest runs. A report records the strategy, selected data sources, frequency, date range, simulation settings, status, and performance results.

Runs move through processing states and finish as Completed or Failed. Open a completed report to review its metrics and visualizations. Delete a report only when you no longer need its results.

Optimization runs

Optimization runs are separate from ordinary backtest reports. Open Optimization to create a parameter sweep, monitor progress, cancel a running sweep, and inspect its result table and charts. See Best practices and Troubleshooting.
