Create and manage custom indicators

Create a custom indicator with Lona, save it to your library, preview it on market data, and improve it through chat.

Availability

My Indicators is available on Premium and Quant plans. If your plan does not include the feature, Lona returns you to New Chat.

Create an indicator

1. Open My Indicators.
2. Select Create new indicator. Lona opens a new chat with a prompt to create a custom indicator.
3. Describe what you want the indicator to measure. Include the inputs, settings, and the output you expect.
4. When Lona generates code, open the code panel and choose Save Indicator. If the code contains more than one indicator, choose one from Save Indicators (number).
5. In Add to Indicator Library, enter a Name, optionally add a Description, and select Save.

You can also select + Add beside an indicator in the code panel. The same save dialog opens.

Find a saved indicator

Open My Indicators to see your saved indicators. Each card shows its name, description when available, and relative creation time. Select a card to open its detail page. Use the pagination controls when your library has more indicators than the current page.

Modify an indicator

1. Open the indicator from My Indicators.
2. Ask the indicator chat to change the behavior. For example, ask Lona to change a lookback period or add an output.
3. Review the updated code in the canvas.

When Lona finishes a code change, the updated indicator is saved automatically. The code view on the detail page is for reviewing and copying the code; make changes by describing them in the indicator chat.

If a chart is available, select the camera button in the chat input to attach a chart snapshot to your request.

Preview an indicator

The detail page includes a canvas with the indicator code and preview controls.

1. Select Run Preview. After the first preview, this button is labeled Re-run.
2. If the indicator has configurable parameters, adjust the parameter fields before running it.
3. Wait for the preview to finish. The chart appears when the preview completes.

Previews use Lona’s default preview market data. You do not choose a symbol, date range, or data upload from the indicator page. If the preview fails, ask Lona to correct the indicator and run the preview again.

Delete an indicator

1. Open My Indicators.
2. Select the trash button on the indicator card.
3. Confirm with Delete.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
